COSMELAN PEEL TREATMENT IN WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CA
Cosmelan® is a depigmenting method that removes spots fully and prevents their reappearance for a short-term outcome, while being able to maintain hyperpigmentation under control for a long lasting outcome. The powerful ingredients in a Cosmelan Peel treatment will work from within to restore an even skin tone.
In addition to an even skin tone, you will also be able to achieve a considerable reduction in blemishes, dark spots, dry skin, and acne scarring. Conspicuous gray or brown patches in your chin, cheeks, nose bridge and uneven tone in your face, neck, hands, legs, abdomen, and breasts can be corrected with a professional Cosmelan Peel treatment. The peel will also work to regulate the oil gland generation in your skin to mitigate acne breakouts.

Cosmelan Depigmentation is suited to skins that suffer from pigmentation, sun damage and more specifically Melasma. The cosmelan procedure will improve the appearance of:
Pigmentation and uneven tones
Melasma
Lack-lustre dull skin
Sun damage
Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation
The treatment is virtually pain free. The patient will only feel some mild to moderate discomfort post treatment with peeling and dryness in certain areas.
The Cosmelan Depigmentation Procedure is an intensive resurfacing treatment that provides up to 10-12 days of downtime. Your skin will be red, swollen and warm for the first 3 days post treatment and then peeling will start. Peeling and dryness can be expected for up to 7-10 days. Sun exposure is to be avoided throughout the downtime with an SPF to protect your skin and your results. All post care products are included in your treatment price which will help speed up the healing phase.
Side effects with Cosmelan treatments are rare but easily managed. Some skins may feel a little red following removal of the in-clinic mask. This may be accompanied by some minor dryness and flaking. Any tightness may be easily relieved by applying a nurturing moisturiser such as Hydra-Vital Factor K – which is supplied in your post treatment homecare pack.
It is recommended to avoid direct sun exposure following a Cosmelan treatment and to wear a broad spectrum SPF30 every day before, during and following treatment.
Results being seen after one treatment of Cosmelan is to be expected. This can be in as little as 2 weeks post treatment or may even be 4-8 weeks post treatment depending on skin condition and concerns. Maintenance of pigmentation will always be needed due to external and internal factors.
As successful as our results are with our Cosmelan procedure, Melasma is a form of hormonal pigmentation which unfortunately is out of our control. We would never guarantee that your melasma will be gone forever. We tackle the pigmentation from all angles by ensuring the corrective skincare is always being used, clinical maintenance treatments are followed whilst also referring to a naturopath to treat internally.
The Cosmelan treatment is performed as a once off treatment. Maintenance treatments may be recommended in your initial skin consultation.
AFTERCARE
Pre Cosmelan Depigmentation Treatment:
- Do avoid any chemical peel or laser procedures 14 days prior to treatment with Cosmelan.
- Refrain from waxing or the use of other depilatory products for 7 days prior to treatment.
Post Cosmelan Depigmentation Treatment:
- Always avoid sun exposure as much as possible.
- Do NOT get another treatment or procedure (including peels, facials, or microdermabrasion) on the treated area for 30 days following.
- While maintaining on Cosmelan 2, discontinue its use for 5 days prior to waxing, and do not restart treatment until 3 days after waxing. Threading can be done normally.
Day 1
- Wash off mask at designated time given by provider with gentle soap and water.
- Apply Hydravital Factor K cream to treatment area overnight.
Day 2
- Apply Hydravital Factor K cream.
- Then apply sunscreen during the day.
Day 3-30
- Start Cosmelan 2, apply in morning and evening.
- Apply Hydravital Factor K cream 15 minutes after Cosmelan 2.
- Apply sunscreen last (in the morning).
- Schedule your 1 month follow up treatment to be done in office.
Month 2-6
- Apply Cosmelan 2 once a day in the evening.
- Apply Hydravital Factor K cream 15 minutes after Cosmelan 2.
- Apply sunscreen every morning.
