Pre-Filler Instructions:

• Avoid taking any anti-inflammatory medications for one to two weeks, including aspirin, Motrin, ibuprofen, vitamin E, gingko globula, fish oil, St. John’s Wort, and garlic pills.  if authorized by your primary care physician. Using these medications may increase your risk of bruising. For mild pain or headaches, Tylenol is advised.
• You may experience some swelling and/or bruising after the procedure. Over-the-counter Arnica supplements (available at The Derm Institute, most supplement stores, Whole Foods, etc.) have been shown to minimize bruising if taken starting three to five days prior to treatment.
• The ideal time to schedule this procedure is AT LEAST TWO WEEKS before to a noteworthy event.
• DO inform your nurse or physician of any past medical problems, including medication allergies and anaphylaxis.

Post-Filler Instructions:

• DO repeatedly apply cold packs to the areas of the body treated with filler throughout the day following the surgery.
• The areas that have been treated may swell, bruise, and become red over the first two to seven days.
• Avoid getting a facial or massage for a week or two after your filler operation.
• Try not to drink alcohol or engage in strenuous activity for the entire day.
• ONLY massage the regions that have had treatment in accordance with your doctor’s orders.
• Apply topical Arnica gel, consume fresh pineapple juice, take supplements containing bromelain, and/or keep taking Arnica tablets to speed up the healing of bruises.
• Bruises may be covered up using makeup. The Colorescience Corrector Palette and Dermablend, available at CVS and Macy’s, are two examples. Schedule your next session, as directed by your physician.
